Michael “Mike” Altavilla, 59, of East Windsor, died suddenly at home on Saturday, June 6.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas & Edna Altavilla. Born in Newark, NJ; he lived in Edison all his life until moving to East Windsor in 2004. He was a material handler for many years and was employed by Univar USA, Morrisville PA for the last 20 years.

Mike was a loving husband and devoted dad to his daughters, Anne-Marie Hellmann (husband Christopher) and Michelle Profaci (husband Robert). He was a doting and proud Grampy to four grandchildren, Emma & Robert Profaci and Brynn & Philip Hellmann. He will sorely be missed by his “knuckleheads”. He was a good friend and neighbor to all.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, Julianne (Szuch) & daughters, he is survived by two brothers, Thomas of California and John of Califon, NJ. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Kathy Altavilla and Ellen Billitz and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

We will always remember the great pleasure he had fishing with his sons-in-law and nephew, Mike. The memories made vacationing the last several years with his family in OBX were the highlight of his life.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm and Thursday from 10am to 11am at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown.
