Condolences

Condolence From: Bill Romig
Condolence: Gene has been a great loss for all that knew him. He was an interesting very intelligent, well-read man, but also a generous one. Although having poor night vision, he once drove, in the dark, to northern CT to rescue us when our car died. I recall the night, too snowy to drive, that Gene walked miles to share a bottle of wine with us. He was part of my support team when I ran an ultra-marathon. I probably spent more time with him as a boy and later, with my wife, as young adults, than anyone other than his mother. We wandered the Pine Barrens, the Water Gap, NYC, and even Mt. Washington. We helped each other with old cars, even to frantic weekends replacing engines in them. We shot target matches together. Christmas Eve was never right without Gene. We were very great friends, later drifting apart. Nonetheless, we grieve.
