Obituary for Viola M Wittman

Viola “Violet” Mary Wittman, 87, entered into eternal peace on November 11, 2016, at the Masonic Home in Burlington New Jersey.
Violet was born on July 2nd, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Anne Rektor from New Brunswick, NJ. She graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1948 and worked for Squibb Pharmaceutical in New Brunswick during the 50’s and the Middlesex Board of Education as a lunch room aid during the 60 & 70’s. She married Fredrick Wittman in July 1950 and shortly thereafter started a family at their new home in Middlesex, NJ. They had two sons, Wayne and David.
Middlesex was a magical time for the young Wittman family with many backyard barbeque parties, camping and fishing trips and Sunday afternoon rides for ice cream. As with most families Wayne and David grew up and started new lives of their own. Wayne married Joan Durner in 1977 and went on to have three children; Bryan, Christopher and Chelsea. David married Tara Cope in 1985.
Violet loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. Fond memories for her grandchildren included Grandma’s “babysitting adventures”, picking up pretty stones along the road, and Birthday cards while away at college.
Viola was active with the Presbyterian Church in Bound Brook NJ and is a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Fredrick Wittman in 1998; her siblings Elsie, John, Anne, Joseph, Rose, Margaret
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her sons and their wife’s, her grandchildren; loving sisters, Mary and Julia, and brothers Peter and Andy.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, November 15th with services being held 7:30pm at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home located at 202 Stockton Street in Hightstown NJ. . Interment will be at the Neshanic Reformed Cemetery located at 689 Amwell Road, Hillsborough Township, NJ on Wednesday November 16th, at 11 AM.
