William Eller, 93, of Cranbury passed away at home on Monday, January 16, 2017. Born in Cleveland, Ohio; he lived in Charleroi, Pennsylvania and Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He had been a resident of Cranbury for the past 70 years.
After graduating high school, William enrolled in the V-5 Program to become a Navy pilot at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time in the US Navy he served as a Gunnery Instructor and during the later years of World War II he proudly served in Siapan where he was part of the Dumbo Squadron.
Mr. Eller was retired from US Steel in Fairless Hills, PA; he was a member of the Cranbury Lions Club, First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, Hightstown Elks Lodge #1955, Hightstown VFW Post 5700 and Hightstown American Legion Post 148.
William is survived by his wife of 73 years, Rose Eller, two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Smith(Kevin) and Linda Dellaria(Sam), two granddaughters, Erin Smith and Alyssa Dellaria, three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
A memorial service will be held 11am on Saturday, January 21 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10am until the time of the service. Donations in William’s name may be made to the Cranbury Lions Club, PO Box 365, Cranbury, NJ 08512.
