Obituary for John J. Kessler Jr.

John J. Kessler, Jr., 83 of West Windsor, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, a day shy of his 84th birthday at the Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center. Born in Newark he resided in Ewing for most of his life.

A 1955 graduate of Newark College of Engineering and a 1988 graduate of Rider University, Mr. Kessler attained a BS degree in Civil Engineering and a MA degree in Business Administration. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force serving two tours encompassing 1955-1970.

Mr. Kessler worked as a Division Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration from 1955 – 1992 and the NJ Turnpike Authority from 1992-1998.

John loved playing tennis, sailing off of Long Beach Island and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a volunteer and member of the Presbyterian Churches of Ewing and Hightstown.

Predeceased by his parents John and Bess Kessler, John is survived by his wife Dolores, a sister, Janet Martino, an Aunt, Olga Sutera, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Craig Cox and Colleen and Nestor Kopidis, four grandchildren, Johnny & Anna Cox, Sophia & Zoe Kopidis and nieces Christine Klaskin and Deneen Hatch.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 7 from 9:30am to 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, 320 N. Main St, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Kessler’s name may be made to The Michael J.
