Obituary for Gabriel A Amatucci

Gabriel A. Amatucci, 90, of East Windsor passed away with his family by his side at his residence May 4, 2018. Born in Jersey City on August 6, 1927, he was an East Windsor resident for the past 46 years.

Gabriel went to St Peter’s College for his undergraduate degree, received his Master’s Degree from Montclair State and did Doctoral work at Rutgers. His long career in education included teaching in South River, Administrator at Dennis Township in South Jersey and eventually becoming Principal of several schools in East Brunswick.

He proudly served in the US Army for two years and was stationed in Korea.

In retirement, his volunteering included Reading for the Blind, Literacy Volunteers and over 20 years delivering for Meals on Wheels. Gabriel had a wonderful sense of humor, he was an avid reader and was an avid Giants, Yankees and Rutgers fan, and was a Lover of SQUIRRELS!

Son of the late, Vincenzo and Maria Mele Amatucci; loving brother of the late Maryann, Angelo, Carmine and Frank Amatucci; Rose Lapardo, Angela Lau and Mildred D’Amato; he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally Maddock Amatucci, devoted father of Lynn Kahn and her husband Mitch, Mark Amatucci. Cherished grandfather of Katie and Natalie Kahn and survived and loved by many nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Gabriel’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or Habitat for Humanity Millstone Basin Area, PO Box 178, Cranbury, NJ 08512-0178. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, Hightstown.
