Blaine Zanat, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at his residence. Born in New Brunswick, he lived in South River before moving to Hightstown in 1982.

He graduated from South River High School and Adelphi University. Mr. Zanat was a chemist with many companies and he was a substitute teacher for the past five years.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire. Blaine also loved reading, music and old movies.

Son of the late Fred and Rose Zanat, he is survived by his wife Jane Campbell Zanat, one daughter, Kimberly Zanat Marttila and her husband Joseph, one grandson, Robert, one sister, Christine Corrales, one brother, Randy Zanat, one aunt, Helen Scupp, four brothers in law and their families and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at 7pm. Friends may call from 5:30pm until the time of the service at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Contributions in Blaine’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
