Assigned to the U.S.S. Bataan, Walter served as an Aviation Machinists Mate in the South Pacific during WWII until discharge in 1946. In 1948 Walter married Evelyn Bartels, who preceded him in death in 1998. Walter worked as a Sales Branch Manager for Swift & Co. He was active in the West Washington Meat Market Mens Club of NYC, New Windsor, NY Little League, Vails Gate, NY Boy
