Obituary for Cheryl L. Mikita

Cheryl Perkins Mikita, 47, of East Windsor, N.J., passed away after a nine-year battle with breast cancer, at home surrounded by family and friends on January 15, 2018.

Cheryl was born in Fort Belvoir, V.A., and grew up in Piscataway, N.J. In 1996, she married the love of her life, Brian. They welcomed adorable triplets, Jason, Tabitha, and Alyssa in 2003, and a beautiful baby boy, Alex, in 2007. Cheryl viewed motherhood as one of the greatest joys and privileges in life. Cheryl always enjoyed rooting on all of her children at their events. Cheryl’s taxi made sure everyone in the neighborhood was where they needed to be and was always there to pick up her children. She took pride in her ability to be there to support all her children in everything they do. Cheryl was one of the strongest people you would ever meet. She met the challenges of breast cancer head on, never once complaining along the way. Instead, she was the one comforting others. She touched so many with her kindness and generosity.

She was predeceased by her father, Charles Perkins; Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Brian; beloved children, Jason, Tabitha, Alyssa, and Alex; mother, Victoria Perkins; siblings, Deborah Perkins with husband Brad, Steven Perkins with wife Heather, and Michael Perkins with wife Jenny; in-laws, Jean and William Mikita; brother in-law, William Mikita Jr and wife Mary; sister in-laws, Kristen Inzirillo and husband Joseph, Robyn Barbato and husband Phillip; all nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends, all of which will miss her dearly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:30am Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Friends may call at the church from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a Trust set-up for Cheryl's children; please contact Brian Mikita for further information.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520.
