Obituary for William G "Bill" Obert

William G. Obert, 74, of Madison Hts., VA, formerly of Robbinsville, NJ, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home. Born in Trenton, N.J., June 9, 1943, he was the son of the late William C. Obert and Huberta Callery Obert. After growing up spending summers at the Jersey Shore with his many cousins, Bill enlisted in the US Marines after graduating from Allentown High School Class of 1961. Bill was a lineman for Verizon for over 30 years, before retiring and relocating to VA. While in NJ, Bill was an active member of the Cross Pile Hunting Club, where he spent many good times and laughs with some great friends. He was a dedicated NY Yankees fan, and rarely missed a televised game.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Bonnie McMinn Obert of Madison Hts; two daughters, Lynn Krall and husband Kevin of Florence, NJ and Terri Petrullo and husband Joseph (Jay) of Hamilton Square, NJ; two step-children, Sherri Diaz and husband Paul of Hermitage, PA, Larry Braasch and wife Vonnie of Bordentown, NJ. His mother-in-law Evelyn McMinn, of Madison Hts.VA, sister-in-law Laurie McMinn of Richmond, VA. Five grandchildren, Kevin and Christopher Krall and Isabella, Alexandria and Joseph Petrullo; five step-grandchildren, Hannah, Gracie and Jonathan Diaz; Evan and Lydia Braasch . One niece, Valerie McMinn Piepszowski of Amelia, VA, one uncle and a number of very special cousins. A special thank you to Berkley Taylor and the Amherst County Emergency Services.

A memorial celebration of Bill’s life will be held Friday, June 8th from 10am-12pm at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown NJ.
