Obituary for Robert W "Bob" Baer

Robert Walter Baer (Bob), 84, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2019, at Samaritan Hospice, Mount Holly, with family by his side.

Bob, son of Herman and Stephanie Baer, was born on October 16, 1934, in New York City. He grew up in the Bronx where he attended De Witt Clinton High School and graduated from the City College of New York in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration.

He was married to Carolyn Auch Baer on June 15, 1968 and then moved to East Windsor, NJ, where they resided for 32 years. After retirement, they moved to Columbus, NJ. Bob worked for the Depository Trust Company, NYC, for 35 years. After retiring, he worked part-time for the New Jersey Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, East Windsor for 49 years, having served as President for several years and various other committees too numerous to list. In retirement he also enjoyed auditing classes at Princeton University.

His five grandchildren were the love of his life and he enjoyed being with them and going to their swim meets, basketball, and soccer games. Grandpa was a very special person in their lives. He will be dearly missed by his family, church family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn of almost 51 years; daughter Helene Liversedge and husband Scott of Broomfield, CO; son, Stephen Baer and wife Elena of Little Falls, NJ; son, Thomas Baer and wife Shari of Bordentown, NJ; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Patrick, Henry and Jadon; a cousin Gail Carty of State College, PA; and other special relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 79 One Mile Road Extension, East Windsor on Monday, June 10, from 6 pm to 8 pm, and on Tuesday, June 11 from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am. Burial will follow the service in the Memorial Garden at the church.
