Obituary for John M "Mike" Holman

Princeton, NJ — John Michael “Mike” Leigh Holman, 88, died Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his home in
Princeton, NJ following a protracted illness.
Mike is pre-deceased by his son, Richard. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Margaret Angela (Davies)
Holman; his children, Philippa (Michael), Jane (Paul) and Peter (Colin), and his grandchildren, Joshua,
Hannah and Allyson.
Mike was born and raised in Abertillery, Wales, UK, attended Imperial College receiving a PhD in Applicable
Mathematics and married his grade school sweetheart, Angela. He and his young family moved to
Cranbury, NJ in 1963 and he spent his career in the satellite industry developing trajectories for a wide
range of missions working for RCA and GE. Mike had an agile mind and even in retirement, he spent many
years at Mercer County Community College tutoring students in math and science.
Mike was also an athlete, serving as captain for the Imperial College rugby team, playing tennis and
squash, sailing summers in Maine and most importantly swimming well into his 80’s.
A memorial service will be held August 17th at 11:00am at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cranbury, NJ.
