Obituary for Barbara Townsend Williston
Mrs. Barbara T. Williston (née Townsend) died peacefully on August 29, 2019 in Shallotte, NC at the age of 90.
Barbara was born on October 3, 1928 in Elizabeth, NJ. She married George, her high school sweetheart, in 1950. Barbara was a longtime Edison, NJ resident before moving to Shallotte, NC. She was an accomplished artist who taught Tole Painting at Fort Monmouth, NJ. Barbara was passionate about music and loved crafting, reading, and traveling. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Barbara is survived by her sons, G. Stanley (Mary), Gary (Karen), Glenn; grandchildren, Jennifer, Allison (Paul), Valerie (Thomas Jr.), Michael; great grandchildren, Aiden, Penelope, Avery, Olivia, Abigail, Thomas III. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marguerite Townsend, sister Gladys Rachwal, and beloved husband George Stanley Williston Jr.
