Obituary for Richard Louis Mastriano

Richard Louis Mastriano, 85, of Hightstown, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Born in Flushing, NY; Richard had been a resident of Hightstown for the last 48 years.

Richard served in the US Navy for twenty years where he held the rank of ADR-1. During his time in the service, Richard was awarded “Sailor of the Year” three years in a row, he also received awards for two rescues in which he took part . He was a Chief Mechanical Trainer for the East Coast and was a part of Deep Freeze Two building bases in Antarctica and was a Helicopter Squadron Alum. Richard had the distinction of crossing both the Equator and the International Date Line.

As a young man Richard was a Star Scout and later in life was a Scout Leader. He also enjoyed his time as a team manager for the Millstone/Roosevelt Little League. Richard was a Master SCUBA Dive Instructor and was the current President of the Capital City Dive Club. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 148, Fleet Reserve and was a member of St Anthony of Padua RC Church since 1958. Richard was retired from Air Products and Chemicals in Manalapan after 20 years of service.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice Mastriano, four sons, Richard (Jenni Romano), Wayne (Rosalila), Robert (Valerie) and Douglas (Rebecca); one daughter Janice (Steve) Juzva; nine grandchildren, Michael, Robert Jr., Mario, Barbara, Rosalila J., Mariana, Madeline, Ian and Josiah; one great granddaughter who is on the way and many adopted children.

Calling hours will be held from 5pm to 8pm Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton St., Hightstown, NJ 08520. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday, Jan. 4 at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, New Jersey. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Lincoln Highway, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
