Obituary for Charlene V Griffin

Charlene Virginia Mayo Griffin of East Windsor, NJ, passed away on January 28, 2021, at the age of 52. Charlene was survived by her two daughters, Brianna Sierra Griffin and Crystal Symone Burno, son-in-law, Hakeem Burno, grandchildren Ja’Den Patterson, Hy’Amovi Patterson, Jo’Sanni Griffin, Anthone Cameron and her partner of many years, Craig Miller and former spouse and friend Lamone Griffin.

Charlene leaves a large family behind sisters Susan Armstrong, Renee Canady and Ella Mayo, Brothers Curtis Armstrong and the late Ernest Armstong, brother-in law Darrin Canady, sister-in law Carol Allen, nieces, Charise Mack and Tiffany Allen, Nephews, Kayson Allen, Sky Allen, Chapmen Canady, Chad Canady and Xavier Canady. Charlene will be dearly missed by her many cousins and friends whose lives she touched.
Charlene was born in Jersey City, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Charles Mayo and the late Doretha Maynard.

Charlene graduated from St. Anthony High School and entered into a career where she provided social services to the elderly and youth, while at New Jersey United Healthcare, Aetna Better Health New Jersey, the Urban League of Hudson County and Hudson Perinatal Consortium, Lutheran Social Services of New Jersey. Charlene was most proud of the work and the people she assisted while at these organizations.
Charlene loved fashion and interior design. Her home was always a welcoming showcase for her creative style. She adored spending time with her family and was proud of her girls, Crystal and Brianna. Charlene had a smile that lit up a room and loved to laugh.

A celebration of life will be held at Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home on February 8, 2021, located at 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm with funeral service will begin at 12pm and a burial to follow. Due to the pandemic, the service and burial will be limited to immediate family.
