Obituary for Shirley S Hancock

Shirley Smith Hancock, 94, of East Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at her residence. Born in Freehold, she was an area resident most of her life.

Shirley retired from the East Windsor Regional School District after teaching for almost 40 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hightstown where she served as a Deacon, played in the Bell Choir, sang in the Church Choir and was a Sunday School Teacher. Shirley was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star and Past President and 63 year member of the Women’s Club, and was a founding member of the Lionesses . She was a member for 30 years of the Friday Club and a Past President, a member of the Hightstown East Windsor Historical Society, DINO Group, Mercer County NJ Retired Teachers Group, honorary member of the Hightstown High School Class of 1955, a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Golden Age Neighbors Group, and the Live Wire Society.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Willis R. Hancock Jr. in 2005, she is survived by her three daughters, Vicki Georgic and her husband Randy Georgic of Butler, Pa., Debbie Hancock and her companion Bill Weaver of Hightstown and Ginny Hancock-Stefan and her husband Rev. Dr. George Hancock-Stefan of King of Prussia, PA; Shirley was the proud grandmother of six granddaughters and their spouses, Erin and Michael Cardamone, Andrea Georgic and Matthew Salyers, Lindsey Stefan and Rev. Bruce Wood, Ashley and Alexander Stefan-Cherry, Christina Stefan and Logan McCullar, and SaraGrace Stefan and her companion Matt Wolek. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, David and Rebecca Wood, Tobias and Isla Mae Stefan-Cherry, Jack Cardamone, Agnes Salyers; nephews, Luke and Roff Smith and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church of Hightstown, 125 South Main Street. Friends may call on Saturday from 10AM, until the time of the service. Interment will follow at East Windsor Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton St., Hightstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hightstown, 125 South Main Street, Hightstown, Nj 08520.
