Arthur V. “Bub” Danser
Arthur V. “Bub” Danser of Cranbury passed away at his home on Sunday June 6th. He was 91.
A lifelong Cranbury resident, he lived in the house in which he was born until 2005 when life necessitated a move to a single story home. He was a graduate of The Cranbury Elementary School, Hightstown High School and studied agriculture at Rutgers University. He was a local farmer who grew potatoes for years then transitioned to field corn, wheat and soybeans. In his spare time he actively enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, and bowling.
He was an active member of the Cranbury community in many ways. He was a 75 year member and past elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, a 70 year member of the Cranbury Lions Club and a 65 year member of Hightstown-Apollo Lodge #41. He was also a member of the Cranbury Board of Education, the Township Committee, the Planning Board and a director of Midlantic Bank/Cranbury.
He was also active in several agricultural organizations including the New Jersey White Potato Council, The NJ State Potato Association and the Board of Governors of the Rutgers Ag School. In later years he was a frequent winner of the National Corn Growers yield contest for New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his father Clendon M. Danser, his mother Lydia G. Danser, his sisters Marjorie Bloom and Adelaide Danser and, sadly, his wife of 69 years Barbara Walton Danser. He is survived by a son Alan A. Danser (Debi) of Cranbury and a daughter Laura D. Jackson (John) also of Cranbury; four grandchildren; Brian Danser, Lindsay Jackson, Courtney Jackson, and Jason Trenkle.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Brainerd Cemetery with Pastor Hannah Lovaglio officiating.
