Obituary for James A Hope

James Albert Hope, 78, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his residence in Manasquan, NJ; after a battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Born June 11, 1942 in Trenton, he was the son of the late Albert and Ruth Hope.

Jim grew up in Freehold and lived in West Windsor Township and moved to Manasquan in 1996. Jim was a graduate of Freehold High School class of 1960. Jim was a founding partner of Aljon’s Submarines in Hightstown which later became Aljon’s Pizza, and later expanded with many locations in the Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth county area.

Husband of the late Bonnie Jean Hope who died in 2008 and father of the late Robert Michael Hope who died in 1997, he is survived by a daughter, Jaime Lynn Hope of Washington, DC; one son, James Tyler Hope of Tokyo, Japan; three granddaughters, Madelyn Jean Woods, Jocelyn Hope Woods and Emily Elizabeth Hope of Washington, DC; one brother, William Hope and his wife Patricia of Howell; one sister, Ruth Ann Piatkowski; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 10am to 11am Saturday, June 12 at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. Services will follow at 11am at the funeral home with interment following at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s name can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, Hightstown.
