William (Bill) Lewis Harrington
November 4, 1938 - February 25, 2022
William (Bill) Lewis Harrington, 83, of Hightstown, NJ, passed away early Friday, February 25, 2022 at his Meadow Lakes residence with his family by his side.
Bill was born and raised in Mooresville, NC; the only child of William & Myrtle Harrington. He received his B.S. degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1961, then went on to Cornell University where he was the first US recipient of a PhD specializing in Spark Source Mass Spectrometry in 1966. Bill worked at RCA Laboratories in Princeton, NJ for 20 years before partnering with colleagues to start their own laboratory in 1988; Evans East, now Evans Analytical Group. He retired in 2006 and pursued his favorite hobbies of golf and travel, and became an accomplished stained glass artist. He was an area resident for 50+ years, an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, where he served as an elder, Lion’s Club, Coterie Club and served as a Hightstown councilman from 1984-88.
Bill is predeceased by his first wife Judith (Taylor), 1973. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lynda Harrington, his only daughter, Rennie (Ross) Seyfert of Marmora, NJ and 3 grandsons, Will, Michael & Sean Palmer.
Memorial services will be held at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Hightstown on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11am.
