Obituary for Charles D Wolfe

Charles D. Wolfe passed peacefully on September 16th at the age of 94, surrounded by family. Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Joan Martell, his twin sister Claire Hoffmann, sister Jean Hand, and brother W. Homer Wolfe. Charlie is survived by his brother Doug (Patty) Wolfe, Jeff (Joanne) Wolfe, and sister-in-law Ruth Wolfe. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family KC (Patty) Wolfe of Roosevelt, Tara Isaac (Mike) of New Egypt, G. Albert Wolfe of Sparks NV, and Maggie (Alex) Hoffmann of Yardley PA. Charlie and Joan are grandparents to five grandchildren, Leah, Jesse, Casey, Kelly, and Chase, and six great-grandchildren, Odin, Isis, Luca, Mia, Ava, and Lillian.
Charlie was born on February 1928 in Hightstown NJ to Helen and Albert Wolfe. In 1950, Charlie enlisted in the Army to serve as a Sargent in the 25th division. He was deployed to active duty in Korea until 1953. He married Joan Martell October 15th 1955. After completing his service Charlie settled in Jamesburg New Jersey to farm. He then moved to East Windsor, spending the rest of his career at McGraw-Hill publishing in the South Building. After retirement, Charlie was busier than ever. He worked as a landscaper and caretaker for several homes around Mercer County. Charlie’s amazing garden provided unforgettable Jersey tomatoes, potatoes, and squash each summer to neighbors, family, and friends.
Charlie served as a Post Commander of the American Legion Post 401 in Monmouth Junction. He was a longtime member of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church in Monroe. Charlie and Joan were long standing members of a social Card Club, a group of couples who met one Saturday a month for 50 years. They were blessed by longstanding friends and family, including neighbors of 50 years, Debbie and Bob Campbell.

Calling hours will be held 6pm to 8pm Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton St, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday, at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe, NJ 08831. Burial will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent, NJ. Donations in Charlie's name may be made to Lt. John Farnkopf American Legion Post 401 or to the East Windsor Township Police Department. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, Hightstown, NJ.
