Obituary for Kristen A Jacobus

Kristen Ann Jacobus
September 27, 1975 – November 10, 2022

Kristen found her voice in the midst of her illness. Reflecting on her younger self, she confessed she felt uncomfortable acknowledging her true feelings. Throughout her 47 years in this life, she unfolded like the lotus flower.

Kristen was a seeker … she loved writing, reading, and poetry. She found peace in Buddhist images. She enjoyed listening to Donovan and embraced the light and the sea.

Although she found fulfillment in her profession at Merrill Lynch in Mercer County, serving West Coast clients with their charitable trust issues, she came to truly embrace the importance of healthy eating and discovered and nurtured her inborn skills as a natural cook – for which all who ate at her table were grateful. If she had been well enough, she would have pursued a career as a nutritionist.

What Kristen appreciated most was family….a missing ingredient for her and her older brother Andrew when they grew up in California, on the other side of the country from their relatives and many dear friends.

In New Jersey, Kristen met and fell in love with Frank. Their cherished daughter Samantha brought her complete joy. Samantha gave true meaning to Kristen’s life. Her brother, her nephews and nieces, her aunts and uncles, cousins, parents, in-laws, step-family, and beloved friends meant the world to her.

Kristen was a beautiful woman – with clear blue expressive eyes. Emotionally, she was strong; rarely, did she expose her true vulnerability. She was kind and generous.

She will be missed by so many.

Who knows why early illness comes to some. We know only the blessings of love and the enlightenment of the lotus flower – that grows in murky water, symbolizing the struggles of life, to blossom fully as it reaches toward the sun.
