Richard E Ziegler, 83, formally of Cranbury and Ft. Myers, Florida, died Saturday, November 12 at Barnegat Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Cranbury, he lived there most of his life before moving to Fort Myers after his retirement as Vice President of Midlantic National Bank of Cranbury where he was employed for 22 years.
Dick was a former member of the Cranbury United Methodist Church where he had held the positions of the church organist and choir director. A U.S. Army Veteran he was also a past president of the Cranbury Lions Club and was a long time member of the Cranbury Volunteer Fire Company. In his retirement he was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers.
Son of the late William and Katherine Oehler Ziegler and brother of the late William and Jack Ziegler, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emma Romans Ziegler, one daughter and son in law, Kathy and Larry Ward of Naples, FL; one son and daughter in law, Bob and Kim Ziegler of Cranbury; two sister in laws, Marie Ziegler Christensen of TN and Betty Lou Ziegler of Cranbury; seven grandchildren, Mindy, Matthew, Maryjean, Kyle, Anna, Noah and Leah, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 2PM on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Cranbury United Methodist Church, 21 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ 08512. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Westminster Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to the Cranbury United Methodist Church, 21 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ 08512 or to the Cranbury Vol. Fire Company, 2 South Main Street, Cranbury, NJ 08512.
