William H. Schanck Jr., 86, of Cranbury passed away Thursday, May 12 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Born in Cranbury, he was a lifetime resident.
Mr. Schanck was a graduate of Hightstown High School Class of 1948 and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Cranbury, where he and his wife Joyce were the leader’s of the Youth Fellowship. He was an avid antique collector and was the proprietor, along with his wife, of Brookside Antiques in Hopewell for many years. Bill was retired from the US Postal Service after many years of service as a rural postal carrier. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Son of the late William H. Sr. and Loretta May Dolan Schanck, he is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Joyce E Mount Schanck, his twin daughters, Elaine C Homoky (Robert) and Catherine E Oliva, one sister, Lillian Nielsen (Herbert), three grandchildren, Christopher W, Kelly A, Stephen M and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16 at 11am from the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Interment will follow in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at the funeral home.
