Joyce E. Schanck, 85, of Cranbury passed away Wednesday, July 19 at her residence. Born in Hightstown, she was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Schanck was a graduate of Hightstown High School Class of 1949 and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Cranbury, where she and her late husband were the leader’s of the Youth Fellowship and she was also Church Treasurer. She was a past member of the Cranbury Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary.
She was retired from IBM after 25 years of service as an Executive and was the first woman at IBM to wear a Pant Suit, against the dress code. She was an avid antique collector and after retiring she was the proprietor, along with her husband, of Brookside Antiques in Hopewell for many years.
Daughter of the late LeRoy and Dorothy Huber Mount and wife of the late William H Schanck (her high school sweetheart), she is survived by her twin daughters, Elaine C Homoky (Robert) and Catherine E Oliva, a brother, James (Louise) Mount, three grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, and Stephen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21 at 11am from the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Interment will follow in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
