The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Nicole Marenda can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Confirmation Day

I was honored to be Nicole's 'Confirmation' Godfather and part of my duty was to sit by her side in church during the ceremony. There were the usual 'church' noises - songs, prayers and Bible readings; there were also periods of silence while the Bishop and Priests performed various rituals. It was during one of these silent periods that it came to Nicole's attention that a woman sitting two rows in front of us was wearing a horrible floral hat with fake butterflies glued on it. She struggled to contain her laughter - her cheeks puffed out, her eyes teared, her lips turned white from the effort of keeping them tightly pressed together. I was no help. The minute she pointed out the ugly hat I also had to struggle not to laugh outloud. We both had our hands over our mouths, but we just couldn't stop! Every time somebody turned to stare at us, or put their finger to their lips to remind us to be silent, it made us worse. At one point even the Bishop turned around to see where the oddd noises were coming from. We truly expect that when it was Nicole's time to be Confirmed the Bishop would refuse!
